Let’s break it down..
Where to Start?
Ashleigh at The Therapy Tree believes that for support to be accessible, clients should have choice and flexibility over what they receive; therefore Ashleigh has created packages of input as guidance but will also discuss your specific needs to create a bespoke package of input where you can control what support you receive. This flexibility of input then relates to our pricing structure; payment plans can also be discussed to improve accessibility of services.
Take a look at our services below, we have packages of input as well as individual services that can be stand alone or combined into bespoke packages, get in touch to discuss.
Still not sure what you need? Contact Ashleigh for a free no obligation consultation.
Assessment takes place to identify the persons strengths and needs which informs the subsequent advice given. During assessment Ashleigh will be looking at all relevant areas of communication: pre-linguistic, understanding, expressive skills, pragmatics and social communication. Get in touch or take a look at our Communication & SLCN section for more information about what communication involves and what we assess.
The assessment process involves a telephone or email consultation to gather client history information and an understanding of the clients concerns. The format of the assessment will then depend on the clients needs but can include: observations, informal assessment tasks and standardised assessment tasks as well as reporting from the client and other key people (as agreed with client).
Following assessment, findings and advice will be provided in the form of a written report.
Assessments can take place in the clients home, school, place of work or any other setting as agreed. Clinic space available in Ashburton Devon if preferred.
Take a look at our below packages or get in touch to discuss your specific requirements.

- SALT – In-depth Assessment & Start Up: 30min telephone or email consultation, 2 days assessment (which can be split across multiple settings eg: home & school), detailed report of findings, therapy plan, training / hand over of therapy plan and initial therapy activity resources.
An in-depth assessment is particularly valuable for those with complex needs so that the information gathered is representative of the clients abilities across settings and times. Some clients require time to get to know a therapist before feeling comfortable demonstrating true abilities and potential. Additionally it is common for people with complex needs to display different abilities in different settings. Furthermore an in-depth assessment allows relationships to be built between Ashleigh and key people around the client who will likely be supporting the implementation of recommendations; this ensures therapy plans are achievable, functional and relative to the clients lifestyle.
Unless otherwise agreed, this level of package is required to access our Enabling+ service; to ensure Ashleigh has an in-depth understanding of all of the clients abilities, needs, management strategies and personality as well as the beginnings of relationship building necessary for the client to trust and get to know Ashleigh.
Therapy & Enabling+
Therapy sessions are individualised for the client following their interests whilst working towards agreed goals. Sessions typically last 1 hour and include time for discussion with the client / key people to hand over any updates, summarise the session and provide advice (including how to continue development between sessions). Typically therapy is booked in blocks to allow the necessary time to plan, work towards goals set, train others and monitor progress. Number of sessions per block and time between sessions can be agreed at the consultation stage. The sessions typically follow an evidence based therapy plan created by Ashleigh following assessment. However if you have been given a therapy plan by another therapist for example following an NHS assessment, please contact Ashleigh to discuss.
In order for communication skills to be generalised into everyday life they need to be used in everyday life. Therefore Ashleigh will discuss with you how to support and encourage development between sessions. Furthermore, therapy activities will be demonstrated to key people so they can be continued between sessions, building the foundations for generalisation.
The amount of sessions required greatly depends on the clients needs, goals and individual rate of progress; therefore a review of continuation need is discussed at the end of each block.
Examples of therapy approaches include: AAC Coaching, VERVE / Parent Child Interaction, Communication through Yoga (Special Yoga & Talk Yoga), Intensive Interaction, Play skills, Attention Autism, Lego Therapy, smiLE, Specific Speech and Language activities … and more!
Remote therapy aka Teletherapy now available! Please enquire for more details.
Enabling+, unique to the Therapy Tree, is a therapeutic enabling service providing targeted intervention through the day to day routine in order to promote functional independence and generalise communication skills. This typically involves working towards specific communication goals detailed within a therapy plan. Complementary therapies such as Special Yoga Therapy can also be added into the sessions for no additional cost. Ashleigh can work 1:1 with clients or alongside other care providers. These services are booked in blocks to allow for the time necessary to plan, work towards goals set and monitor progress. These blocks of support also allow time for Ashleigh to train key people around the person so that they can feel empowered to continue working on the goals between sessions.
Reviews & Monitoring
Once a therapy plan is in place, particularly if being delivered by someone else (eg: partner, parent at home, a teacher at school, enabler), you may want a monitoring visit after an agreed period of time in order to review progress, follow up any challenges, answer any questions and ensure the plan is being delivered appropriately. When Ashleigh is providing therapy, progress can be reviewed after each block of therapy or at another agreed interval.
Following a review, new targets or strategies may be advised. Alternatively, it may be felt that no further speech and language therapy input is indicated at this time and the client is discharged from the service. A summary of this will be written via email or post. Full reports or new therapy plans can be written for an additional charge.
Ashleigh is available between agreed sessions or following discharge to address specific questions relating to the persons communication and/or therapy plan.
Reports & Therapy Plans
To ensure flexibility of plans and pricing, different report options are offered so you can be in control and choose what you need.
